Enzo Maresca emphasises the need for Chelsea's players to be mentally ready for their Europa Conference League match against Heidenheim. Chelsea, along with five other teams, have maintained a perfect record in the competition. They top the 36-team league table, having scored 16 goals in three matches. Their recent 8-0 victory over Noah, with six goals scored in the first half, marked a significant lead by an English team in a major European game since Derby County's 9-0 halftime lead against Finn Harps in the 1976-77 UEFA Cup.
Maresca is cautious about complacency affecting Chelsea's performance against Heidenheim. "I enjoy every game in this competition knowing that every club tries to make it their big game," Maresca stated. "The issue for us can be that if we are not ready mentally, and we underestimate a team, they can hurt us. So we need to be ready." He stressed the importance of being prepared and not underestimating opponents.

Chelsea has been rotating players throughout the competition, giving opportunities to young talents as well. "Since we started, we have tried to share minutes with all the players in the squad," Maresca explained. "In some of the [Conference League] games, we have also used some young players." This strategy aims to maintain freshness and readiness across the squad.
With December's busy schedule starting on Sunday against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, some players did not travel with the team. However, Maresca shared positive news regarding Malo Gusto and Pedro Neto, who missed their recent win over Leicester City. "Both have trained with us," he mentioned. "We don't take any risks for tomorrow's game, but I think both should be available for Sunday's game [against Aston Villa]."
Maresca remains optimistic about continuing their current form while managing player fitness effectively. The coach hopes that his approach will keep Chelsea competitive throughout their European campaign and domestic fixtures.
