Enzo Maresca has expressed that Chelsea is not currently a contender for the Premier League title, despite their strong start to the season. The team remains unbeaten in their last four league games, including a 2-1 victory over Leicester City, Maresca's former club. However, Chelsea has faced challenges at home, securing only 41% of their Premier League points in home matches, which is the lowest ratio among all teams this season.
Currently, Chelsea holds third place in the league standings with 22 points. They trail leaders Liverpool by nine points and are just one point behind defending champions Manchester City. Despite their promising position, Maresca has downplayed expectations of Chelsea winning the Premier League title in his debut season as manager.

"No [Chelsea are not in the title race], I said it many times," Maresca stated. "I really like the pressure. I'd like to say: 'Yes, we're there' - but we're not there. It's nice to see the team improving, that is important; it is nice, a good feeling."
Maresca emphasised the need for realism when assessing Chelsea's current standing compared to other top teams. He acknowledged that while Chelsea can still win matches and compete throughout the season, the primary focus should be on continuous improvement with each game.
Maresca pointed out that Arsenal has been under Mikel Arteta's management for five years and Manchester City under Pep Guardiola for more than eight years. Liverpool has also maintained consistency with minimal changes over time. According to Maresca, these factors contribute significantly to their success rather than just points or table positions.
Chelsea is set to play against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge in their upcoming Premier League fixture on Sunday. The focus remains on building momentum and enhancing team performance as they progress through the season.
