Bengaluru, February 19: Chelsea are reportedly preparing to use Michy Batshuayi as a bait in their attempt to sign USA international Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund.
The Blues refused to sell the Belgian striker last month, instead only allowing him to depart on loan to the German side where he has made a great impact in a very short time.
The Belgian has flourished since his arrival on deadline day, scoring five goals in his first three matches, to only strengthen the Bundesliga club's desire to secure him long-term.
Reports in England claim that Batshuayi could hand Chelsea a boost in their pursuit of his current team-mate Pulisic.
The USA teenager is one of the brightest young talents in world football and has already caught the attention of several Premier League outfits.
Manchester United and Liverpool have both enquired about the 19-year-old in the past and now Chelsea look all set to join the race.
Meanwhile, Dortmund are determined to hold onto the starlet who is under contract with them until 2020.
However, he has revealed before his desire to test himself in the English top-flight.
And that has alerted Chelsea, who have tracked him for over a year and would ideally want to wrap-up a deal before the World Cup.
The Chelsea board are aware of the fact that Dortmund will command a hefty fee for Pulisic, but they believe they have a big bargaining tool in Batshuayi.
The American is the youngest-ever player to play for the US national side and has won 20 caps already.
And he became the youngest foregner to score in the Bundesliga when he bagged for Dortmund aged just 17.
Dortmund will need a number nine permanently next season and they will surely like to keep Batshuayi if he can keep up his form.
