Enzo Maresca secured his first victory as Chelsea manager with a commanding 3-0 win against Club America in Atlanta on Wednesday. Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke scored from penalties, while Marc Guiu netted his first goal for the Blues.
The match began disastrously for the Mexican team when Cristian Calderon conceded a penalty just 72 seconds in. Nkunku calmly converted from the spot. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, making his debut for Chelsea, missed two chances but assisted Guiu's goal, which was headed past Luis Malagon.

Javairo Dilrosun nearly pulled one back for Club America before halftime, hitting the post. However, they couldn't capitalize on that momentum in the second half. In the 78th minute, Rodolfo Cota fouled Nkunku in the box, and Madueke took over penalty duties to seal the win for Chelsea.
Maresca expressed satisfaction after the game: "Very happy. In this moment, the main focus cannot be the result," he said. "It's to analyse or judge the performance and to see how we improve. In my personal opinion, from Wrexham, Celtic and today, we continue to improve. This is the most important thing."
Chelsea's attacking efficiency was evident as they matched their goal tally from their previous two games combined. They generated an expected goals (xG) tally of 3.65 from 17 shots, nine of which were on target. Despite being slightly outpossessed, there are promising signs under Maresca's leadership.
"We are talking, we are working," Maresca added. "It's a habit from years ago. I don't know, but there are things that we need to improve defensively."
This victory marks a positive step forward for Chelsea as they continue to adapt to Maresca's tactics and style of play.
