Keira Walsh, a prominent England midfielder, has joined Chelsea, the Women's Super League champions. After two and a half successful seasons in Spain, Walsh returns to England's top league. During her time abroad, she won two Liga F titles, consecutive Champions League titles, one Copa de la Reina, and three Supercopa de Espana Femenina trophies.
Walsh expressed her excitement about joining Chelsea: "It's unbelievable. I'm very happy to be here and very excited to get started. You look at the history of the trophies Chelsea have won, and I'm an ambitious player and person, so for me, it is a good fit." Her addition marks Chelsea's third signing in the January transfer window.

Before Walsh's arrival, Chelsea signed United States defender Naomi Girma for a reported world record fee of £900,000 and goalkeeper Femke Liefting. These strategic acquisitions aim to strengthen the squad as they lead the WSL table with 11 wins and one draw under Sonia Bompastor's leadership.
Walsh began her career at Blackburn Rovers before moving to Manchester City in 2014. During her eight-year tenure there, she won the WSL in 2016 along with three FA Cups and four League Cups. Her move to Barcelona in 2022 was marked by a then-world-record transfer fee of £400,000.
On Instagram, Walsh reflected on her time at Barcelona: "Being a Culer has been a dream come true, and I'm grateful for the memories that will last a lifetime. It has been a privilege to be part of such a special group of players, sharing unforgettable moments on and off the pitch."
Internationally, Walsh was instrumental in England's success at the European Championship in 2022. She was named Player of the Match in their final against Germany. The following year, she helped England reach the World Cup final.
Chelsea currently leads second-placed Manchester United by seven points in the WSL standings. The team's unbeaten run highlights their dominance this season as they aim for further success with their new signings.
