Enzo Maresca remains optimistic about Chelsea's progress despite a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. Nicolas Jackson netted for Chelsea in a dominant first half, but Eberechi Eze's impressive long-range goal ensured the points were shared.
Dean Henderson's goalkeeping efforts thwarted Chelsea, who managed to get seven of their 13 shots on target, creating an expected goals figure of 2.27. However, they couldn't replicate their clinical performance from the previous weekend against Wolves. Despite this, Maresca expressed pride in his team's display.

"We completely deserved to win the game," Maresca told Sky Sports. "We had many, many chances. The most important thing was the performance, and the performance was there."
Palace might have been lucky not to be reduced to 10 men in the second half when Will Hughes avoided a second booking for a foul on Palmer just before Eze's equaliser. When asked if it should have been a red card, Maresca acknowledged that it would have altered the game's dynamics significantly.
"This kind of thing for sure changes the game," he added. "It was a clear second yellow card, but the referee thinks in different ways. In that moment, we were also 1-0 up and the game completely would change 11 v 10."
Maresca remains confident that Chelsea are heading in the right direction. "I feel a bit of shame for the result, but not the performance," he said. "The direction is the correct one. With the players arriving now, we can even better."
Chelsea are still looking for their first Premier League home win under Maresca's tenure, but he believes that playing as they did against Palace will eventually lead to victories.
"We conceded just two shots today," Maresca noted. "We didn't take the three points but playing the way we did today, I think we will win games."
The match ended with both teams sharing points, leaving Chelsea to reflect on missed opportunities and look forward to future matches with optimism.
