Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud reveals one regret from his time at Arsenal

London, Feb 27: Chelsea's latest January signing, former Arsenal man Olivier Giroud has shared his biggest regret during his Gunners stay and has admitted he has some regrets about as an Arsenal player.

Giroud was limited to a starting role this season at Emirates after the arrival of former Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette as manager Arsene Wenger mostly selected the former Montpellier forward in the Europa League this season.

But once they decided to bring in another striker in Aubameyang, the former Arsenal number nine switched to the London side's arch-rivals Chelsea for £18 million for an 18 months deal with a hope of more game time.

The France international ended a five-and-a-half-year spell at Arsenal, with 105 goals to his name and three FA Cup which mostly intimate that his time at Emirates was a hit.

However, the French forward now in a recent interview with William Gallas who also played for both Chelsea and Arsenal in his career has opened up about his biggest regret during his Gunners days and suggested that failing to win the Premier League title still evades him.

Speaking of SFR Sport, he told Gallas: "A regret? I have one and it is not difficult to guess.

"I do not know if we can really call it a regret but I have a little taste of unfinished business because I really wanted to win the Premier League with Arsenal.

"It does not erase five and a half years like that but I repeated it often enough: it was my goal.

Giroud came close to winning the Premier League in 2015-16 but could only manage the second spot finish as underdog Leicester remarkably won the League.

However, the 31-year-old striker also suggested that he still has not lost hope of winning the PL title at this point and although the title is out of reach this year, he will try to reclaim it in the next year to complete his Premier League title drought.

"After, it’s not over, I’m still in the Premier League, now I’m in Chelsea.

"For this year, I think the title is gone but next year we will hold great ambitions.

"I still have this desire to win before stopping even if I still have good years in front of me."

In a little span of time, Giroud has already started to show his worth in the Blues colours and since making the switch to Stamford Bridge, he has appeared in all the matches, scored one goal and assisted three.
