Chelsea target Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente

Chelsea are desperate to get a target man for Antonio Conte but Giroud’s departure from Arsenal is not straightforward as Arsene Wenger is waiting to seal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente back on Chelsea radar

Bengaluru, January 30: Chelsea have got Fernando Llorente back in their sights if they fail to land their no. 1 target Olivier Giroud of Arsenal.

The Premier League champions are desperate to get a target man for Antonio Conte but Giroud’s departure from Arsenal is not straightforward as Arsene Wenger is waiting to seal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the longer it takes to complete the £60million deal, it makes Giroud move difficult.

Plus, Chelsea are Arsenal's local rivals and the Gunners are unwilling to let him move to the West London club.

Llorente is Chelsea's back-up option to support Alvaro Morata in attack at Stamford Bridge but he only moved to Spurs in the summer and Pochettino will surely hesitate to sell the Spaniard now with the deadline closing in.

Conte came close to signing the Spain forward in the summer but saw him move from Swansea to Tottenham at the last minute.

Spurs could easily get the £12m they paid for a player who has found the net twice since arriving.

The two clubs have also become bitter rivals on the pitch and the surprise deadline-day deal in August saw them competing in the transfer market.

But, Conte is still a massive fan of the striker he coached during his time at Italian giants Juventus.

A good fee might tempt the North London club to sell.

Chelsea have been linked with a host of strikers in January and all of them are big strikers who lead the line as 'target man'.

Andy Carroll emerged as a surprise target and was almost signed but the Englishman suffered an injury and as the result, the deal did not materialize.

Either Giroud or Llorente would be brilliant signings for the Blues but we have to wait and see if they can sign either of them with time running out.
