Chelsea want Italian wonderkid Gianluigi Donnarumma

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Donnarumma is seen as a decent replacement if Courtois jumps ship to join La Liga giants Real Madrid.

AC Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma

Bengaluru, March 14: Premier League champions Chelsea are reportedly keeping an eye on AC Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in case their star Belgian custodian Thibaut Courtois leaves the club.

Courtois, 25, has been linked with a switch to Real Madrid with the Belgian stalling on a new contract at Stamford Bridge for a long time now.

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Donnarumma is seen as a decent replacement if Courtois jumps ship. The report continues that the 19-year-old's agent Mino Raiola has fallen out with the Milan hierarchy.

PSG are also linked with Donnarumma, who has been the Italian side's No1 since the age of 16.

Courtois's current Chelsea contract runs out in 2019 and the Blues could cash in during the summer when he will have just 12 months left.

There were reports doing the rounds that the former Atletico Madrid star's camp had met with PSG bosses despite interest from Real but were denied by Courtois' agent.

Christophe Henrotay said: "I have never heard of that meeting.

"If any club is interested they know what they have to do - find a deal with Chelsea and then talk to me to check my client interest.

"RTBF is a small TV channel in Belgium and sometimes they like a little thrill to keep them alive. But their information is not correct."

Considering the season Chelsea have had and also keeping in mind that Courtois' family still lives in Madrid even after he moved to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid, we might see the Belgian jumping ship to Real Madrid who are on the look out for a young keeper to replace Keylor Navas in the long run.

If that indeed happens, Donnarumma would be one of the best possible replacements for the Belgian given his young age and immense potential.
