Chelsea are showing strong interest in Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic.

The bombarding full-back caught the eye for Croatia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and has since been linked with several top clubs in Europe.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have been linked with the Croatia international and now Chelsea look set to join the race as well.

Chelsea have already started their business as soon as the winter transfer window has opened. They have already signed David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos and Benoit Badiashile and are evidently looking to further strengthen their side. Juranovic could be the next in line to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have endured a difficult season so far and one of the key reasons behind their struggles has been Reece James' injury issues. James missed the FIFA World Cup due to an injury and returned to action with the Blues last week. He was in the starting line-up for their 2-0 win against AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday (December 27), but was forced off the pitch in the 53rd minute.

It looks like the Englishman could be out for four weeks again which will be a major blow to the Blues. James' injury issues mean that he simply cannot be relied upon for a whole season and it is high time that they should look for an alternative. Cesar Azpilicueta is in his thirties and is not the player he once used to be.

Juranovic has been a key player for both club and country in recent times. Since his move to Celtic in 2021 from Legia Warsaw, he has been a key player for the Hoops. The Croatia international has played 16 games for Celtic so far this season scoring once and providing one assist. Capped 35 times for Croatia, he has established himself as a regular member of the Zlatko Dalic's side.

If available for the right price, Juranovic should be a good addition to Chelsea. The Blues are in need of a capable option at full-back in James' absence and to compete with him. Juranovic looks more than good enough for the task.
