Chelsea's Women's Super League team is aiming for an unbeaten season, having extended their lead at the top by seven points after a narrow victory over Arsenal. Lucy Bronze expressed the team's ambition following their 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge, secured by Guro Reiten's late penalty. Arsenal ended the match with ten players after Katie McCabe received two quick bookings for dissent.
Under Sonia Bompastor's guidance, Chelsea have been formidable this season. They have won 11 out of 12 league matches, drawing just one. The team has also advanced to the knockout stages of the Women's Champions League, reached the Women's League Cup semi-final, and progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup. Since Bompastor replaced Emma Hayes, Chelsea have remained undefeated.

Bronze shared her thoughts on BBC Two, stating, "We're trying to win four trophies and that's difficult." She emphasised the importance of securing points early in the season to be well-positioned during the challenging months of March, April, and May. "We want to go the season unbeaten," she added, highlighting Chelsea's desire to break records.
Chelsea's history includes two previous unbeaten seasons in the WSL during 2017-18 and 2019-20. However, no English team has gone unbeaten across all competitions in recent times except Arsenal in 2006-07 when they achieved a quadruple. Despite their strong position in the league table, Bompastor remains cautious about celebrating too soon.
Bompastor remarked on their current success: "That [going unbeaten] is not what I'm thinking at the moment. I'm really pleased with the result." She acknowledged that matches are often decided by fine margins and stressed taking each game as it comes. "We just want to take it game by game," she said.
Chelsea's impressive home record continues with 41 wins from their last 43 WSL games at Stamford Bridge since February 2021. This includes victories in all eight league matches played there this season. The team's focus remains on maintaining consistency and making strategic decisions to secure positive outcomes.
The pursuit of an unbeaten season is a significant goal for Chelsea as they aim to add more silverware to their collection. With five consecutive league titles already under their belt, achieving an unbeaten run would be a remarkable accomplishment for the club.
