Chelsea's Manager Sonia Bompastor Calls Wembley Final A Once-in-a-Lifetime Chance For Quadruple Success

Sonia Bompastor emphasises the significance of Chelsea's upcoming Women's FA Cup final at Wembley, viewing it as a rare opportunity to achieve a quadruple this season.

Chelsea's upcoming Women's FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium is seen as a unique opportunity by manager Sonia Bompastor. Her team secured their place in the final after a 2-1 victory over Liverpool, thanks to Aggie Beever-Jones' decisive header in the 94th minute. Chelsea will face either Manchester City or Manchester United in this significant match.

Currently, Chelsea leads the Women's Super League and remains unbeaten. They are also in the Champions League semi-finals and have already claimed the Women's League Cup this season. Bompastor expressed her delight, saying, "I think you could see in everyone's face at Chelsea, staff and players, a lot of smiles and a lot of happiness."

Bompastor: Wembley Final is a Unique Chance

Bompastor emphasised the importance of playing at Wembley Stadium, describing it as a venue with great history. She recalled her own experiences there during the 2012 Olympics. "This stadium means a lot in the football world," she said, highlighting its significance for both players and fans.

Despite falling behind to Olivia Smith's first-half goal for Liverpool, Chelsea equalised through Erin Cuthbert before Beever-Jones' late winner. Bompastor praised her team's resilience and determination during this crucial phase of the season.

Bompastor stressed the importance of maintaining high standards and a winning mentality throughout their matches. "We talked a lot before the game about having high standards going into these games," she stated, highlighting her expectations from her players.

The decisive moment came when Beever-Jones found space in injury time to score past Rachel Laws. This victory puts Chelsea into another final while they maintain a six-point lead in the WSL with four games left.

Bompastor acknowledged the hard work put in earlier in the season as crucial to their current success. She noted that there's little time now to refine strategies, so they rely on what was established during pre-season training.
