Inter Miami remain at the top of Major League Soccer (MLS), guided by the phenomenal form of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi. The former Barcelona icon has been stunning spectators in 2024, netting 10 goals. Yet, despite his sensational performances, Messi is not the league's top scorer.

The leading scorer honors are currently shared by two former Liverpool forwards - Christian Benteke of D.C. United and Messi’s Inter Miami teammate, Luis Suarez.

The 2024 season has been even more prolific for the 33-year-old, who currently tops the scoring charts with 11 goals from 10 appearances.

Benteke's exceptional form has been highlighted by two hat-tricks, the most recent of which came in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Atlanta United.

This revival has been instrumental in D.C. United’s climb to seventh place in the standings, positioning them well for their first playoff appearance since 2019.

While Messi and Suarez's exploits keep Inter Miami leading the MLS Eastern Conference, Benteke's remarkable turnaround continues to capture the spotlight. With Messi's upcoming absence, the path is clear for Benteke to possibly extend his lead in the Golden Boot race and further cement his impact in the league.
