Ciro Immobile Signs With Bologna Following Release From Besiktas

Bologna have announced that Ciro Immobile has joined their ranks after his contract with Besiktas was terminated. Immobile spent a season in Turkey, netting 15 goals in 30 matches. Besiktas, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, finished fourth in the league. The club released Immobile early as he wished to return to Italy.

Immobile's return to Serie A will see him play for Bologna, who recently won the Coppa Italia and will compete in the Europa League next season. He has agreed to a one-year deal with Bologna, with an option for an additional year. This marks a significant move for both the player and the club.

During his time at Lazio from 2016 to 2024, Immobile scored 169 goals in 270 Serie A games. His tally was unmatched by any other player during this period, surpassing Inter's Lautaro Martinez by 66 goals. Immobile's most successful season was in 2019-20 when he scored 36 goals in 37 matches.

Immobile also boasts a Euro 2020 victory with Italy but missed out on the Euro 2024 squad. His career includes stints at Juventus, Pescara, Genoa, Torino, Borussia Dortmund, and Sevilla. His experience across various leagues adds depth to Bologna's squad as they prepare for upcoming challenges.

Bologna will kick off their new Serie A season against Roma on August 23. Roma is now managed by Gian Piero Gasperini. With Immobile's addition, Bologna aims to build on their recent success and make a strong start to the campaign.
