Ciro Immobile's contract with Besiktas has been terminated, paving the way for his anticipated return to Serie A with Bologna. The Italian striker, who netted 17 goals in 57 matches for Italy but missed out on the Euro 2024 squad, joined the Turkish club last July. During his time there, he scored 15 goals in 30 Super Lig games, helping Besiktas secure a fourth-place finish.
Immobile is reportedly eager to cut short his stay in Turkey and join Bologna. The club finished ninth in Serie A last season under Vincenzo Italiano but celebrated success by winning the Coppa Italia. On Friday, Besiktas announced they had mutually agreed to end Immobile's contract, which was initially set to continue for another year.

The forward has already reached an agreement with Bologna, who will compete in the Europa League next season. They participated in the Champions League during the 2024-25 season but were eliminated in the league phase. Immobile's previous stint in Italy was with Lazio from 2016 to 2024, where he enjoyed remarkable success.
During his time at Lazio, Immobile scored an impressive 169 goals in 270 Serie A appearances. This tally was at least 66 goals more than any other player managed during that period, with Inter's Lautaro Martinez coming second with 103 goals. Immobile averaged a goal every 126.2 minutes in Serie A while playing for Lazio.
His most outstanding season came in 2019-20 when he scored 36 goals in just 37 league matches. Immobile also boasts a Euro 2020 winner's medal with Italy and has played for several clubs including Juventus, Pescara, Genoa, Torino, Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla.
Besiktas expressed their gratitude towards Immobile through a tweet: "Grazie, Ciro! Wishing you nothing but success on your next adventure." This message highlights the mutual respect between the player and the club as they part ways.
Immobile's return to Italy marks another chapter in his illustrious career. His scoring prowess and experience will be valuable assets for Bologna as they aim for success both domestically and in European competitions next season.
