Claudio Ranieri has returned from retirement to manage Roma until the season concludes. The Italian, who retired in May, is renowned for leading Leicester City to a surprising Premier League victory in 2016. His coaching career includes stints at top European clubs like Chelsea, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Inter, and Monaco. Previously, he coached Cagliari in Serie A.
Ranieri is now back for his third tenure with Roma. During his initial spell from 2009 to 2011, he nearly secured a Serie A title. Across his two previous terms, the 73-year-old managed 96 matches in all competitions, achieving 53 victories and a win rate of 55.21%. Roma expressed their delight in appointing Ranieri as the new Technical Manager of the First Team.

Roma announced that Ranieri will transition into a senior managerial position at the end of the season. He will serve as an advisor on sporting matters for the club's ownership. The search for a new coach will continue over the coming months, with Ranieri involved in this decision-making process.
Ranieri steps in following the dismissal of Juric after Roma's 3-2 home defeat against Bologna on Sunday. This loss left them in 12th place in Serie A standings. Juric was Roma's second coach to be dismissed this season; Daniele De Rossi was sacked earlier in September.
Reports from Italian media suggest that Roma struggled to find a replacement for Juric before choosing Ranieri. Former Italy coach Roberto Mancini and Maurizio Sarri were among their preferred candidates. Ranieri's first match will be away against league leaders Napoli on November 24.
Ranieri's appointment marks a significant moment for Roma as they aim to stabilise their performance this season. His experience and familiarity with the club are expected to bring positive changes and guide them through challenging fixtures ahead.
