Philippe Clement expressed immense pride following Rangers' 2-1 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise at Ibrox, securing their place in the Europa League last 16. Nico Raskin and Vaclav Cerny scored in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. Meanwhile, Nice's 1-1 draw with Bodo/Glimt allowed Rangers to clinch eighth spot in the league phase.
Clement highlighted the significance of Rangers' achievement, noting they faced four of the other top-eight teams. "I'm super proud of this team not only being in the top eight but if you see how many good teams are not behind us but above us, four we played against, it gives the performance more importance," he told TNT Sports.

The manager emphasised the squad's mentality and summer rebuild. Integrating new players took time, but everyone is committed to the club's colours. "Maybe we don't have the talent of other teams, but it's about mentality also, it's an important quality in this club," Clement stated.
Raskin has been a standout performer despite a challenging domestic season for Rangers. Clement praised his central midfielder: "Yeah I have known Nico for a long time. When he was playing under-18s football at Standard [Liege], where there was fire, there was Nico."
Clement noted Raskin's progress in understanding his role on and off the ball. "He's taken brilliant steps these last couple of months, learning a lot," Clement said. The manager acknowledged that game minutes and mistakes are part of Raskin's development journey.
Clement reflected on the belief instilled from day one about giving everything for success. He acknowledged that while talent might not match other teams, determination is crucial for Rangers' identity and achievements.
