Cole Palmer Concentrates On Regaining Full Fitness For Chelsea, Not England World Cup

Cole Palmer emphasises his commitment to returning to full fitness for Chelsea following an injury. After scoring against Everton, he remains focused on recovery rather than the upcoming England World Cup.

Cole Palmer is concentrating on regaining full fitness for Chelsea after scoring in their 2-0 victory over Everton. The England international netted the first goal at Stamford Bridge, with Malo Gusto adding another against the Toffees. This marked Palmer's fifth Premier League goal against Everton, equalling his record against Brighton. It was also his first league goal as a starter since May, following recent groin issues.

Despite England head coach Thomas Tuchel attending the match to see Chelsea break their four-game winless streak, Palmer is not yet focused on the 2026 World Cup. "I've not been looking too far ahead to be honest. I've been injured for three months, I just need to get back to full fitness," Palmer shared with BBC Match of the Day.

Palmer Focuses on Fitness, Not World Cup

The player remains optimistic about his recovery process. "I know what I can offer when I'm fully fit, so hopefully I get there soon," he stated. Although he acknowledges he's not at his peak yet due to ongoing injury concerns, Palmer is hopeful for continued improvement.

Palmer expressed confidence in his rehabilitation efforts with Chelsea's physiotherapists. He emphasised the importance of gradual progress, saying, "It's just a matter of not doing too much too soon. Literally, it's just a day by day thing." He remains hopeful that his condition will improve steadily.

The match against Everton was significant for Palmer as it ended Chelsea's winless run and showcased his potential when fit. His focus remains on achieving full fitness rather than future tournaments or accolades.

Palmer's dedication to recovery highlights his commitment to contributing effectively to Chelsea's success. As he continues working with club physios, fans eagerly anticipate his return to top form. His performance against Everton serves as a reminder of his capabilities when healthy.
