Tottenham Hotspur star striker Harry Kane embarked himself into the history book last weekend following his strike against Manchester City, helping the club win the game 1-0.
The 29-year-old has now surpassed club legend Jimmy Greaves's all-time record of 266 goals for Tottenham with his 267th strike. Regarded as one of England’s best strikers ever, matching Greaves's goal-scoring feat undoubtedly is an impressive haul for Kane.
But how he has reached the feat and how convincing he has been compared to Greaves, here we have taken a look-
League Goals
In his decade at White Hart Lane from 1961 to 1970, Greaves scored 220 league goals, still a club record and more than any other Spurs player outside himself and Kane. Kane on the other hand has recorded 200 Premier League goals, which has put him just behind Wayne Rooney (208) and Alan Shearer (260) in the list.
European Goals
Kane has a significantly better number than the English legend in the European circuit with the current striker having 45 goals under his belt. Kane is Spurs' top scorer in European competition while Greaves only has nine European goals in his career.
Domestic Cup goals
Greaves has 32 FA Cup goals, five goals in the League Cup, and two in the 1962 Charity Shield. Kane on the other hand has 15 FA Cup goals for Spurs and seven in the League Cup.
Goal Per Minute Ratio
Greaves has 379 games under his belt compared to 416 for Kane, but Kane's 0.64 goals-per-game ratio is still superior to Greaves' 0.70.
Trophy
Graves is one of the most coveted players in Spurs in terms of trophies won as well. During his tenure with the North London side, he won two FA Cups and the 1963 Cup Winners' Cup as well as the Charity Shield. Kane on the other hand is yet to get hold of any trophy in his career with only managing runners-up medals in the 2018-19 Champions League and the League Cup in 2015 and 2021.
