Motta Highlights Importance Of Consistency For Juventus In Champions League And Serie A

Thiago Motta believes that consistency is crucial for Juventus to succeed in both the Champions League and Serie A. Despite a strong start, he acknowledges areas for improvement as they prepare for upcoming matches.

Thiago Motta emphasises the need for Juventus to enhance their consistency to compete effectively in both the Champions League and Serie A. Since taking charge at the beginning of the season, Motta has led Juventus to an unbeaten run in 10 matches, securing six wins and four draws across all competitions.

Juventus narrowly defeated Lazio with a late own-goal by Mario Gila, keeping them in contention with Serie A's top teams. Despite this success, Juventus have struggled offensively in the league, scoring only 11 goals, which is among the lowest in Italy's top division. However, their Champions League performance has been impressive, with six goals in two matches and maintaining a perfect record alongside only six other teams.

Motta Stresses Consistency for Juventus Success

Motta insists that his team must maintain a consistent attitude across all competitions. "There is no difference between the league and the Champions League," he stated. "We must always have the same attitude, each match is a story in itself - with evolving strategies and situations." He acknowledges that all teams face challenges against well-organised defences but stresses the importance of perseverance and belief until the final whistle.

The coach also highlighted areas for improvement, both tactically and mentally. He aims for Juventus to play attractive football as a means to achieve victories. As they prepare to face Stuttgart at Allianz Stadium, Motta remains focused on continuous development.

Turkish teenager Kenan Yildiz has shown promise despite not yet scoring in Serie A this season. The 19-year-old has contributed two assists in eight appearances but made history by becoming Juventus' youngest-ever goalscorer in the Champions League during their 3-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven.

Motta expressed satisfaction with Yildiz's contributions: "I'm happy with the work Yildiz does on the pitch, he puts all his quality at the disposal of the team." He believes Yildiz can further improve given his young age and versatility on the field.

Historical Context and Future Goals

Motta aims to join Fabio Capello and Marcelo Lippi as Juventus managers who won their first three Champions League games. His confidence is bolstered by Juventus' recent success against German teams, having won their last five major European encounters since 2019-20.

This winning streak against German sides marks their best run against such opposition. As Motta continues to guide his team through this season's challenges, he remains optimistic about achieving further success both domestically and internationally.
