Simone Inzaghi praised Joaquin Correa's performance in Inter's 5-0 victory over Verona, highlighting his contributions. Correa, starting for the first time this season, scored once, assisted twice, and hit the woodwork twice. His efforts helped Inter climb to the top of the table in Lautaro Martinez's absence. Correa has now scored all three of his away goals for Inter at Bentegodi against Verona.
Correa's display marked only the second time he both scored and assisted in a Serie A match since July 2020, when he played for Lazio against Brescia. Inzaghi expressed satisfaction with Correa's dedication since June, stating, "I'm happy for him. In addition to being a great player, he's a good guy who continued with his work despite some mistrust."

The Argentine forward had been on loan at Marseille last season, with an option for the French club to buy him permanently. However, upon returning to Inter, Correa made three substitute appearances before earning a starting spot alongside Marcus Thuram against Verona.
Inter achieved a rare feat by scoring five goals in the first half of an away league game for only the second time in their Serie A history. The last occurrence was during their 5-1 win against Sampdoria in March 1964. Correa opened the scoring with a chip after receiving a pass from Thuram and later assisted Thuram and Yann Bisseck.
"It wasn't difficult because my team-mates helped me and were happy when I scored," said Correa about his performance. He added that he intended to backheel for Bisseck but acknowledged some luck was involved. "There are a lot of good guys here; we have to continue like this," he stated.
Looking ahead, Inter will face RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday. They might still be without Lautaro Martinez due to illness after international duty. Inzaghi mentioned that Martinez had chills and fever recently and would have rested even if available.
Lautaro Martinez had been instrumental for Argentina in World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru, scoring in both matches. Inzaghi also noted that he himself had been unwell earlier in the week but emphasized monitoring how Martinez's condition develops.
