Barcelona, Aug 27: We have witnessed an entertaining drama so far in the transfer window regarding Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho. Barcelona’s interest in the Brazilian superstar is a public knowledge and so is Liverpool’s determination to hold onto their most priced asset.

As per renowned Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, Barcelona are preparing a new and improved offer for Philippe Coutinho but Liverpool won't change their stance that he is not for sale.

This will be the Catalan club’s fourth offer for the Liverpool number ten and also believed to be the final one.

The player desperately wants the move but Liverpool have refused to sell. And, Balague says Coutinho’s camp are threatening to ramp things up if Coutinho doesn’t get his own way.

When asked 'Will Coutinho come out and talk about his frustrations in public to force a move?’ on a Sky Sports Q and A, he replied: "I have seen that report and it sounds like a threat from the Coutinho camp that he will talk if he is not allowed to leave.

“The issue I have with this is that there are few things stronger than submitting a transfer request - that is the strongest position a player can take.

“Liverpool are determined not to sell and, as I’ve said, Barcelona have to do a last effort because Coutinho has done all he can to leave."

Suarez wanted to move to the Spanish giants in 2013 but Liverpool managed to keep hold of him for another 12 months before finally sanctioning his departure.

Meanwhile, fellow pundit Duncan Ian McGarry said: “All my senses say he won’t be sold and we’ll have a repeat of the Luis Suarez situation three seasons ago where the club will promise to negotiate openly with Barcelona in a year from now in exchange for Coutinho giving another season.”
