Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr may offload star midfielder for Al Shabab defender

Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr is poised to offload one of their European stars as they aim to add a defender to their squad in the January Transfer window.

Cristiano Ronaldo's club is looking to bolster their team in the left-back position, and are eyeing to signing Al Shabab defender Moteb Al-Harbi.

According to reports, the Knights of Najd are planning to offload midfielder Seko Fofana as a part of the deal.

Al Shabab want Fofana on a loan deal for the remainder of the season along with $10.6 million as transfer fee for Moteb Al-Harbi, who has been a top talent for them. The 23-year-old defender has played 95 times for Al Shabab, scoring 5 goals.

He is seen as a competition for Alex Telles, who is already in the Al Nassr squad. Luis Castro, the Al Nassr coach is said to be an admirer of Al-Harbi, who missed out on the Saudi squad for the AFC Asian Cup.

Seko Fofana joined the Saudi giants in the summer but hasn't been able to cement his place as a starter. The 28-year-old has played 25 matches for them across all competitions and has 3 goals to his name, but hasn't been convincing in the league so far.

It is to be seen if Castro has enough luxury to leave out Fofana for the rest of the season as their midfield can have a shortage with Fofana's departure. The Cote d'Ivoire international may also want to fight for his place, thus complicating the player plus cash deal for Al-Harbi.

Al Nassr will be in competitive action only in February, which gives them a chance to wrap the transfer up in the January transfer window without any on-field hassle. They are currently 2nd in the Saudi Pro League table and have already won the Arab Champions Cup this season.
