How much did Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi charge for iconic Louis Vuitton ad before 2022 World Cup?

Bengaluru, April 19: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi set the world ablaze ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup by coming together for an advertisement. The two football icons appeared together for an ad for French luxury brand Louis Vuitton ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The two legendary footballers, who have won 12 Ballon d'Ors between them, could be seen playing chess in a promotional campaign for the tournament. While they didn't actually pose together for the advert, the photo became a sensation on social media garnering plenty of attention.

Reports have now revealed how much two superstars charged for the commercial that has become iconic. Ronaldo reportedly took a whopping €2.34 million for the post, Messi took home €1.75 million for the post.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi posted the photo on Instagram. While Ronaldo's post has attracted more than 42 million likes, Messi's post has got 32 million likes.

Ronaldo and Messi share an iconic rivalry between themselves having dominated football for more than a decade and a half. Their rivalry was at its peak while Ronaldo and Messi donned the shirts of Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

The duo could reignite their long-term rivalry this summer with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal reportedly looking to bring Lionel Messi on a free transfer. Their local rivals Al-Nassr already have Ronaldo who has been a major hit at the Riyadh club following his move on a free transfer in January.

Saudi Arabian clubs are reportedly targeting as many as 50 elite players from Europe this summer. Apart from Lionel Messi, they are also looking for players like Roberto Firmino, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos among others.

Saudi Arabia are believed to be looking to step up their 2030 World Cup bid which is why they are understood to be bringing in top players from Europe on free transfers.
