Cristiano Ronaldo issues public apology as Al Nassr cancel China Tour

Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a public apology after Al Nassr postponed their China friendlies due to his injury.

Al Nassr is currently in Shenzhen, where they were scheduled to play two friendly matches against Chinese Super League teams Shanghai Shenhua (January 24) and Zheijang (January 28).

However, the club announced on Tuesday (January 23) that they will have to postpone the tour due to some unfortunate issues.

Why Al Nassr cancelled China Matches?

Al Nassr have reportedly cancelled their matches as Cristiano Ronaldo is nursing an injury. The Portuguese complained of muscle discomfort and thus requires some time in the sidelines. As a result, the Saudi club has decided to cancel their matches, as the primary reason for the matches was Cristiano Ronaldo and his Chinese fanbase.

The tour tickets were sold within hours as the Ronaldo fans were eager to see their hero in action on Chinese soil.

Cristiano Ronaldo Issues Public Apology

"As you know, in football some things you cannot control. I have played 22 years in football and I am a player that doesn't have too many injuries. So I'm really sad because Al-Nassr and myself have come to China to enjoy the tour. I have been coming to China since 2003/2004, so I feel at home here - my second home. I felt that I am always special here. I feel sad. I know you are sad too, especially the people who love Cristiano, but we have to see this in a good way. We have not cancelled the game, we want to push for the game and be back here. We will be back. Unfortunately, I have some problem, but this is part of football and my life. I'm here, I'm with the fans, I'm with the Chinese people and we are going to continue here. We can see outside the people that are with us. We are sad because we knew this could happen. We will be back to make the Chinese people happy, this is my goal. I want to play for you. Don't be sad because I am sad and I hope you understand the circumstances of a football player," Ronaldo was quoted as saying by Goal.

Al Nassr to continue training in China

The Saudi club has confirmed that they will continue their training camp in China for the time being, and have promised a reschedulement of the matches later. It is to be seen when the matches will take place, but after the season is over, we may see Cristiano Ronaldo coming back on Chinese soil to play the friendly matches.
