Cristiano Ronaldo was bestowed with a Guinness World Record plaque ahead of Portugal's UEFA Nations League quarterfinal second-leg tie against Denmark on Sunday (March 23).
Ronaldo has had an illustrious international career and he recently reached a new milestone, which was a World Record in football.

Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded a Guinness World Record plaque ahead of the match as the player with the most international wins. In 218 appearances for Portugal, the 40-year-old has won 133 matches, which is the most in international football for a player. But Ronaldo was awarded for his 132nd win, which is a World Record itself.
The Portuguese made his debut way back in 2003 and won his first match for the country on August 20, 2003. Ronaldo's 132nd win for the nation came on November 15, 2024 - when he was on the winning side against Poland in a UEFA Nations League group stage match.
Portugal secured a 5-2 win after extra time against Denmark and thus sealed their berth for the Nations League semifinal. Ronaldo missed a penalty early on but then scored later in the match.
The game began dramatically, with Portugal awarded a penalty in the opening minutes after Ronaldo was fouled by Danish defender Patrick Dorgu. However, Ronaldo's attempt was saved by goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, marking a rare miss for the Portuguese star. Ronaldo redeemed his earlier miss by scoring his 136th international goal in the second half, which was crucial as it levelled the tie for Portugal at that time.
Although Christian Eriksen scored again for Denmark, Trincao netted a brace and then Goncalo Ramos sealed the win for the Selecao.
