Crouch goal eases Liverpool past toothless PSV
LIVERPOOL, England Apr 11 (Reuters) Peter Crouch scored the winner as Liverpool set up an all-English Champions League semi-final with Chelsea by beating PSV Eindhoven 1-0 in a low key encounter today.
The Dutch side arrived at Anfield trying to create history by becoming the first team in a half century of the European Cup to overturn a 3-0 first leg deficit, and although it never looked likely their cause was not helped when Dirk Marcellis was harshly sent off in the second half as they went out 4-0 on aggregate.
Crouch scored shortly afterwards with a 67th minute volley from substitute Robbie Fowler's cut back to seal a game which was otherwise short on goal mouth action.
It was the fourth match between the teams in this season's competition with PSV failing to score in any of them.
Liverpool's next match with Chelsea is a repeat of the 2005 semi-final that Rafael Benitez's side won 1-0 on aggrtegate before going on to lift the trophy in Istanbul by beating AC Milan.
