Crystal Palace Celebrates FA Cup Semi-Final Victory With Praise For Manager Oliver Glasner

Following a decisive 3-0 victory over Aston Villa, Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner is praised by Marc Guehi and chairman Steve Parish for his leadership. The team advances to the FA Cup final, aiming for their first title.

Oliver Glasner received praise from Marc Guehi and Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish after their FA Cup semi-final win against Aston Villa. The Eagles secured a 3-0 victory at Wembley Stadium, advancing to the final on May 17 against either Manchester City or Nottingham Forest. This marks their third appearance in the final, having previously reached it in 1990 and 2016, though they were unsuccessful both times.

Despite a challenging start to the season, Glasner faced pressure but retained support from Parish. "I never had any doubt, watching him work, the positivity and the way he is," Parish told BBC Sport about Glasner, who is the first Austrian coach to lead a team to an FA Cup final. "He loves football, always believes we can win and he instils that in his players."

Parish expressed excitement about the club's potential achievement. He noted that both clubs involved haven't won many honours recently. "For us never. A great occasion at Wembley and we stand at the edge of doing something we've never done before," he said. The victory was seen as a celebration for fans of both clubs.

The match saw Eberechi Eze score first, while Jean-Philippe Mateta missed a penalty that could have shifted momentum. However, Ismaila Sarr extended Palace's lead with two goals, securing their place in the final. Glasner commended his players for their hard work and resilience during challenging moments.

Guehi echoed Parish's admiration for Glasner's leadership. "[Glasner] is top," said Guehi to BBC Sport. He praised Glasner and his staff for their detailed analysis of opponents and daily enthusiasm. "The manager is always on to us about running and making sure you are in the right," Guehi added.

The captain highlighted how Glasner's approach helps them apply pressure effectively during games. The team's ability to maintain composure under pressure was crucial in their semi-final success.

Glasner attributed the victory to his players' dedication and adherence to strategy. "All credit to the players," he stated. They managed difficult situations well and maintained control throughout the match.

This upcoming final presents Crystal Palace with a chance to achieve something unprecedented in their history. The anticipation builds as they prepare for this significant opportunity on May 17.
