Kevin De Bruyne Addresses Chaotic Atmosphere At Manchester City Amid Poor Form

Kevin De Bruyne acknowledges chaos behind the scenes at Manchester City but denies a dark atmosphere. He highlights defensive issues as the team struggles in recent matches.

Kevin De Bruyne has acknowledged some disorder at Manchester City but dismissed claims of a negative atmosphere. Despite losing their last five matches across all competitions, De Bruyne insists the mood isn't gloomy. City are currently eight points behind Liverpool in the Premier League standings after a surprising 4-0 defeat to Tottenham.

De Bruyne, who has only played six Premier League games this season with four starts, commented on the situation before City's Champions League match against Feyenoord. "I wouldn't say dark, it's been a bit chaotic," he stated. He noted the frequent changes in personnel around the medical and sports science areas, as well as unexpected player selections.

De Bruyne Discusses Man City Chaos

City's defensive issues have been evident, conceding 17 league goals so far. Their recent European match ended in a 4-1 loss to Sporting CP. Since their defeat to Spurs in the EFL Cup on October 30, City have allowed 14 goals from an expected 10.6 goals against (xGA). De Bruyne remarked on the team's inability to handle adverse moments effectively.

"There's only so much you can control from the sides," De Bruyne added. He highlighted that while they performed well in certain games like against Tottenham, they struggled with both attacking and defending effectively. The team often concedes chances that lead directly to goals.

De Bruyne's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but he remains unconcerned about his future. "I honestly don't know," he said regarding contract talks. An injury sustained during a match against Brentford disrupted initial discussions about his future at the club.

The Belgian midfielder expressed his desire to focus on playing good football again without rushing into decisions about his contract. "I'm not too worried. I'm fine," he mentioned, emphasizing his contentment and lack of urgency regarding his future at Manchester City.

Despite recent setbacks, De Bruyne remains optimistic about returning to form and contributing positively to his team. He aims to regain fitness and confidence on the pitch before addressing any contractual matters further.
