Roberto De Zerbi has expressed his frustration and hinted at resigning from Marseille, just months after taking the managerial role. This comes after a 3-1 defeat to Auxerre at home. Despite being second in Ligue 1, Marseille trails Paris Saint-Germain by six points, with PSG having a chance to widen the gap against Angers.
De Zerbi's tenure at the Velodrome has been challenging, with only one win in five home league matches. Marseille has accumulated just five points at home this season, which is more than only Angers and Montpellier, who have four each. The recent loss marked their first back-to-back home defeats in Ligue 1 since February 2023.

The defeat against Auxerre was particularly disappointing as it was against a newly promoted team. Conceding three goals at home for the first time since losing to Nimes in August 2018 left De Zerbi visibly upset. "If I'm the problem, I'm ready to leave," he stated. "I'll leave the money and hand back my contract."
De Zerbi admitted his inability to replicate training performances during home games. "I came to Marseille for the Velodrome, to play at the Velodrome," he said. He feels responsible for not translating training success into matchday results at their iconic stadium.
The coach emphasised that playing at the Velodrome is a privilege and expressed his desire to instil his football philosophy within his team. However, he acknowledged his struggle in achieving this goal so far.
As Marseille continues its campaign, De Zerbi's future remains uncertain amid these challenges. The team's performance in upcoming matches will likely influence any decisions regarding his position.
