Dean Huijsen has joined Bournemouth from Juventus in a £12.6 million transfer, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The 19-year-old defender has signed a six-year contract with Andoni Iraola's team. Huijsen made only one senior appearance for Juventus before his move.
During the second half of the 2023-24 season, Huijsen was loaned to Roma, where he played 14 league matches and scored twice. His contributions helped Roma secure a sixth-place finish in Serie A, with four clean sheets in his appearances.

The Dutch defender's playing style aligns well with Iraola's possession-based approach. Last season, Huijsen completed 393 out of 451 attempted passes, achieving an accuracy rate of 87.14%. This makes him a valuable addition to the squad.
Huijsen is Bournemouth's fourth senior signing this summer, following Alex Paulsen, Daniel Jebbison, and Enes Unal's permanent deal. His arrival is expected to bolster the team's defensive options significantly.
Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake expressed his enthusiasm about the new signing: "We are delighted to bring in a player of such high calibre on a long-term deal. Dean is someone that has such exciting potential and we are all excited to see where his journey with the club will go."
Blake added, "We're looking forward to welcoming him to Vitality Stadium and working together to help develop further all the qualities that he already possesses."

Huijsen’s addition is seen as a strategic move by Bournemouth to strengthen their defence and enhance their overall team performance. The young defender’s impressive passing accuracy and defensive skills are expected to be crucial for the upcoming season.
Bournemouth fans eagerly await Huijsen’s debut at Vitality Stadium, hoping his presence will contribute positively to the team's success in future competitions.
