Bengaluru, December 6: Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has urged his club officials to try and sign Liverpool midfielder Emre Can in January.

Can is currently in the final six months of his current deal at Anfield and Liverpool have reportedly offered him a new contract extension. However, the 23-year-old is believed to have stalled the deal to making him eligible in January to sign a pre-contract with other clubs for next summer. And as per reports, Can has already finalised personal terms with the Italian champions, which will make the way for a move next summer.

Now, club legend Del Piero also has reiterated the possibilities of signing the player. The retired Italy international urged the Juventus board to go all out to land the Germany international for a reduced fee in January as he believes the defending Champions needs more reinforcement into the midfield to give support to injury prone Marchisio and Khedira.

He said: "[Massimiliano] Allegri's side needs another midfielder because [Sami] Khedira is known to pick up minor knocks. [Claudio] Marchisio is coming back from injury, but he's still not at his best and [Miralem] Pjanic is not such a physical player.

"Emre Can of Liverpool would be ideal, and he's not even that expensive. He could be the big name for Juve in January. They need somebody like him.

"He's physically present and somebody like Emre Can would fit in very well with Pjanic and Khedira."

Can has been a consistent key performer for Liverpool this season whenever he's been called into the first team. The midfielder already has made 16 appearances for the KOPs this season in all competitions, scoring on four occasions and should the German midfielder opt to leave the club in next season, Jurgen Klopp again has to jump into the market to fill the void left by one of the most impressive midfielders of his squad.

Also, it will be hard for the manager to find a proper replacement like Can who is developing into one of world's best central midfielder.
