Cascarino has been a key figure for France, earning 86 caps for Les Bleues, and enjoyed a long spell with Lyon between 2015 and 2024, collecting nine Premiere Ligue titles and six Women's Champions League trophies during a dominant period.

Across the Atlantic, the forward featured for San Diego Wave in the National Women's Soccer League, where Cascarino scored seven goals in 34 appearances before an agreement to terminate the contract was reached with the United States club on Sunday.

San Diego Wave explained that the contract ended after Cascarino declared an intention to return to Europe, and the attacker now joins Eder Maestre's London City Lionesses squad, which is targeting a place among the Women's Super League leaders.

Cascarino outlined the motivation behind choosing London City Lionesses, saying: Englandfor both men and womenis the country of football. It's always been a goal of mine to play in this league. I want to play in the Champions League here at London City and win many trophies.

The arrival of Cascarino adds extensive Champions League and domestic title experience to London City Lionesses, giving Maestre another attacking option as the club seeks to narrow the seven-point gap to the top three during the remaining Women's Super League fixtures.
