Dempo downs East Bengal to lift Super Cup

Gurgaon, Feb 27 (UNI) Edeh Chidi scored in the 71st minute as Dempo Club of Goa lifted the ONGC Super Cup defeating Kingfisher East Bengal Football Club 1-0.

Dempo also bagged a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh which was awarded to them by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

They also received a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh for winning the inaugural ONGC I-League 207-2008.

It was third time lucky for Dempo as they had earlier lost to Mohun Bagan and Sporting Clube De Goa in the Super Cup.

The Fair Play Trophy was also conferred on Dempo Sports Club while Coach Armando Colaco was adjudged as best coach and was given the SA Rahim Trophy.

Subroto Paul of Kingfisher East Bengal Club was adjudged the best goalkeeper. Odafe O Okolie of Churchill Brothers was named as best forward, best player and highest scorer. Mahesh Gawli and Climax Lawrence of Dempo Club received the Jarnail Singh Trophy for best Defender and Midfielder Trophy for being the best half respectively.
