Despite Red Card Why Leandro Trossard Isn't Banned For Arsenal's Next Premier League Game Against Leicester City

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard will be eligible for selection in the Premier League despite being sent off in a controversial 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday (September 22).

The Belgian forward received a second yellow card for time-wasting, leading to his dismissal late in the match. However, the Gunners have been handed a boost as Trossard will not miss any Premier League fixtures.

Trossard became the second Arsenal player in three matches to see red, following Declan Rice's dismissal against Brighton before the international break.

The forward was shown a second yellow card for delaying a restart after kicking the ball away. As a result, Trossard faces an automatic one-match suspension, but under FA regulations, the ban applies across all domestic competitions.

Initially, Trossard's red card had raised concerns among Arsenal fans, with many fearing his absence from their upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City.

Given Arsenal's ongoing injury crisis, his availability was critical. However, Arsenal supporters can now breathe a sigh of relief, as Trossard's suspension will be served in the midweek Carabao Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers, leaving him free to return for the weekend clash.

According to the Football Association's rules, suspensions for red cards resulting from two yellow cards are applied across all domestic competitions. This means that Trossard will miss Arsenal's League Cup match against Bolton but will be available to face Leicester City on Saturday, September 28.

His suspension in the EFL Cup gives Arsenal a slight advantage as the 29-year-old will be ready for the Premier League fixture. Trossard's absence from the Carabao Cup tie opens up opportunities for other players to make their mark.

Raheem Sterling, who is pushing for more first-team opportunities since his move to North London, is now in contention to start his first match for Arsenal. Sterling could join a front three alongside Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, as Mikel Arteta looks to secure a place in the fourth round of the competition.
