"We need sometimes to be more hungry in the final third. We showed at the end we were the best team." Diallo emphasised the importance of belief, saying, "In football you have to believe. Ruben Amorim acknowledged Diallo's pivotal role in turning the game around against Southampton, who are struggling at the bottom of the league table. Amorim noted that even in the first half, Diallo's ability to drive forward was crucial. "Every time Amad gets the ball he can push the ball," Amorim told TNT Sports. "He pushes the other team into the final third, that is really important."

Despite not playing their best game, Amorim stressed that winning was paramount at this stage. He made tactical changes by substituting Kobbie Mainoo at halftime and Ugarte later on but insisted these were not due to a lack of enthusiasm from his players. "It seems like a lack of enthusiasm," Amorim explained. "Ugarte is late and Mainoo is late, Bruno Fernandes going outside when the ball is inside."

The recent draw against Arsenal and Liverpool had boosted confidence within Manchester United's squad. Diallo reflected on these results positively: "We drew with Arsenal and Liverpool so the confidence was there."
