Wolves honour Diogo Jota following his tragic death in a car crash. The club reflects on his contributions and the love he received from fans and teammates.

Diogo Jota, a former Wolves player and current Liverpool forward, tragically passed away in a car accident in Spain. The crash occurred in Zamora shortly after midnight on Thursday, claiming the lives of both Jota and his brother, Andre Silva. Wolves expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Jota, who was cherished by fans and teammates alike during his time with the club.

Jota's impact at Wolves was significant, having played 131 matches for them between 2017 and 2020. His brother Andre, aged 26, was also a professional footballer for Penafiel in Portugal's second division. Wolves released a heartfelt statement saying, "We are heartbroken. Diogo was adored by our fans, loved by his teammates and cherished by everyone who worked with him during his time at Wolves. The memories he created will never be forgotten."

Wolves Pay Tribute to Diogo Jota

The Premier League community is deeply saddened by the news of Diogo Jota's passing. In a statement, they extended their condolences to Jota's family, friends, and Liverpool FC supporters. "Everyone at the Premier League is shocked and devastated to learn of the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre," they stated. Football has lost a champion who will be forever missed.

Jota had an impressive career in the Premier League over eight years, playing 190 games for Liverpool and Wolves combined. He scored 63 goals and provided 20 assists during this period. Notably, he contributed to Liverpool's Premier League title win in the 2024-25 season.

In honour of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, UEFA arranged moments of silence before all Women's Euro matches on Thursday and Friday. This gesture was made following a request from Portugal's football federation ahead of their women's team's European Championship game against Spain. UEFA stated: "A moment of silence will be observed at all of today's and tomorrow's UEFA Women's EURO 2025 matches in memory of Portugal international and Liverpool FC forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva who tragically passed away today."

The football world continues to mourn the loss of Diogo Jota while remembering his contributions both on domestic grounds with clubs like Wolves and Liverpool as well as internationally with Portugal.
