Nuri Sahin has announced that Borussia Dortmund will be without Niklas Sule for several months due to an ankle injury sustained against Borussia Monchengladbach. Sule had previously missed eight games this season with a similar issue and now faces another extended absence. This adds to Sahin's injury concerns, as Waldemar Anton and Julian Brandt are also unavailable.
Maximilian Beier and Karim Adeyemi are doubtful for Dortmund's upcoming Champions League match against Barcelona on Wednesday. "Not so good news, unfortunately," Sahin stated in a press conference regarding Sule's situation. "He will be out for several months. He has suffered a serious injury."

Dortmund is set to host Barcelona at the Westfalenstadion, with both teams tied on points in the Champions League standings after five matches. Hansi Flick's team is third, just ahead of Dortmund on goal difference. A win is crucial for both sides to secure a spot in the top eight.
Sahin acknowledged the challenge ahead, noting Barcelona's impressive scoring record in the tournament with 18 goals so far. "Favourites against Barcelona?" Sahin questioned. "I don't think there are any favourites tomorrow. It will be two teams on the same level and the form on the day will play a big role."
Barcelona remains unbeaten in their four European encounters with Dortmund, winning two and drawing two. This marks the most times Dortmund has faced an opponent in Europe without securing a victory. Despite this, Dortmund has had a strong start to their Champions League campaign this season.
The team has won four of their first five matches (L1), marking their best start since 2016-17 when they also achieved four wins in five games. The only time they won five of their first six games was in 1997-98.
Sahin expressed his disappointment over Sule's recurring injury, stating, "It is completely unfortunate to injure the same spot." He added that it was bitter because Sule was needed after playing well against Gladbach. "It is a bit of bad luck run for him, but you cannot change that," Sahin remarked.
The team must now focus on their strategy moving forward without Sule as they prepare for their crucial match against Barcelona.
