Borussia Dortmund reduced Bayern Munich’s advantage at the top of the Bundesliga to nine points with a 2-0 home victory over Augsburg on Saturday, taking advantage of Bayern’s 1-1 draw at Leverkusen to apply extra pressure in the title race.
Nico Kovac’s team secured the result through goals from Karim Adeyemi and 18-year-old defender Luca Reggiani, as Dortmund controlled long spells of the match, created frequent chances and comfortably protected the lead to claim three significant points in the Bundesliga chase.

Dortmund struck first after 13 minutes when Maximilian Beier’s cross took a deflection, looped invitingly into the area and allowed Adeyemi to finish firmly, before the woodwork denied Dortmund twice in six minutes shortly before half-time during a dominant spell.
Beier saw one effort hit the crossbar, then Adeyemi completed a flowing move with a powerful strike that also crashed against the frame, but Dortmund maintained control and extended the advantage on 59 minutes when Reggiani converted Julian Ryerson’s corner for a first senior goal.
Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen produced several strong saves, twice denying Adeyemi and also blocking substitute Serhou Guirassy, yet Dortmund still extended an impressive attacking streak, having scored in every Bundesliga match this season and in 34 consecutive league fixtures overall.
That run represented Dortmund’s best scoring sequence since a 37-game spell between October 2020 and September 2021, while Kovac’s side also recorded a league-leading 12th clean sheet of the season and restricted Augsburg to only seven attempts, their lowest shot total in this Bundesliga campaign.
