Costa reveals Juventus choice

Turin, August 2: Brazilian winger Douglas Costa in a meeting with 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' has revealed why he chose Juventus and not Manchester City.

The Brazilian said that he had an opportunity to rejoin with his former Bayern boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City this Summer but he made a move to Italy for better chances of lifting trophies and a new experience.

"I wanted to avoid people saying that I only think about playing for someone I know on the bench. I wanted to come to Juventus for a new experience and to grow as a player," the Brazilian said about Manchester City and Guardiola.

The 26-year-old's game time was restrained at Bayern last season as he showed up only in 23 matches and eventually made a loan move to the Old Lady.

Costa arrived at the Turin side on an initial loan-deal of £5.3 million and has insisted he picked Juventus as he believes he can win the Champions League there and he feels happy here already.

"I feel good, you train so hard here. I've just started to get to the same pace as my teammates. I know I'm still a bit behind and I have to reach the level of the others, but I'm working to get in shape as soon as possible," Costa said.

The Old Lady has lost two of the last three seasons' Champions League finals, and Costa insisted he wants to enable them of a guaranteed Champions League title which is long overdue for the last 21 years.

"Why Juventus? Because in three years they played two Champions League finals, they're the team with the most desire and the most opportunities to win the Champions League."

"I want to enter into the history of this club. One year out from the World Cup, I couldn't have chosen a better club. I'm here to win everything, including the Champions League," the winger concluded.
