New Delhi, July 29: The Oriental Cup Football Tournament 2025 concluded on Tuesday (July 29) with thrilling victories for Delhi Public School, RK Puram and Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Faridabad. Despite heavy rains threatening to disrupt the finals at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, the matches proceeded via penalty shootouts after careful consideration by officials.
Olympian Zafar Iqbal attended the final day as the Chief Guest, inspiring players with his presence and presenting trophies to the winners. He praised the organisers for their efforts in nurturing grassroots football and congratulated both winners and runners-up for their performances.

In the girls' final, debutants Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Faridabad defeated two-time champions Sanskriti School in a tense 4-3 penalty shootout. Palak, Nidhi, Tanisha, and Somya scored for Faridabad, while Aditi Chamoli, Amina Abdali, and Azaira Bajaj netted for Sanskriti.
Coach Preeti expressed her pride: "This was our first time participating, and we honestly didn’t expect to reach the finals, but our girls are incredibly talented. They began their journey with us two years ago, and we taught them everything from the basics. We always believed they would achieve something big."
In the boys' final, DPS RK Puram triumphed over The Mother's International School in a thrilling 5-4 shootout win. DPS players Arhan Gupta, Ayush Ranjan, Afraaj Taeiq, Aarav Pahwa, and Kartik Kashyap held their nerve to secure victory.
DPS Head Coach Gobardhan Sahoo commended the tournament's quality: "This tournament is extremely well-organized and gives students a great experience. The facilities are top-notch... It gave us a clear winner."
The Oriental Cup 2025 featured 36 school teams from Delhi-NCR competing in a league-cum-knockout format from July 21 to July 29. Recognised by the Delhi Soccer Association, it has become a premier platform for school-level football in the capital.
Each winning team received ₹1 lakh along with trophies. Runners-up were awarded ₹50,000 while coaches of winning and runner-up teams received ₹30,000 and ₹15,000 respectively.
The tournament was supported by Oriental Structural Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Central Park Estates (associate sponsor), Ocean Beverages (hydration partner), and Nivia Sports (football partner). Their support has helped enhance the tournament's reach and reputation.
The final standings saw DPS RK Puram crowned as boys' champions under Coach Gobardhan Sahoo while Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School Faridabad won in the girls' category coached by Mr. Inderjeet and Miss Preeti.
