Dundee Holds Rangers To A Draw As Philippe Clement Faces Pressure In Premiership

Rangers drew 1-1 with Dundee, continuing their struggle in the Scottish Premiership. Philippe Clement's team remains under pressure with only three away wins this season.

Rangers faced disappointment once more on the road, managing only a 1-1 draw against Dundee. This result leaves them trailing Celtic by 15 points in the Scottish Premiership. Philippe Clement's team has struggled away from Ibrox, securing just three wins in 11 matches this season. The pressure is mounting on Clement as his side continues to deliver unsatisfactory performances.

Dundee surprised Rangers early, taking the lead in the sixth minute. Josh Mulligan set up Oluwaseun Adewumi, who scored his third league goal of the season by beating Liam Kelly. A controversial moment arose when Clinton Nsiala appeared to step on Simon Murray's foot inside the box, but no penalty was awarded. Shortly after, Rangers equalised with a swift counterattack.

Dundee and Rangers Share Points in Draw

Hamza Igamane skillfully bypassed Aaron Donnelly and passed to Vaclav Cerny, who scored at Trevor Carson's near post. Dundee thought they had regained the lead after halftime when Adewumi scored again. However, VAR ruled out the goal due to Murray being offside during the build-up.

As the match neared its conclusion, Mohamed Diomande attempted a long-range shot for Rangers. Unfortunately for him, it struck the left post, leaving both teams to share the points. Despite their recent 3-0 victory over Celtic, Rangers have since drawn against Hibernian and Dundee.

The gap between Rangers and Celtic seems insurmountable now. Clement's squad was fortunate to secure a point at Dens Park. They posed little threat in attack, achieving an expected goals (xG) total of just 0.73 from 13 attempts compared to Dundee's 1.01 from 12 shots.

Rangers have struggled significantly when conceding first in recent matches. They haven't won any of their last eight Premiership games under such circumstances since defeating Dundee last May. The team's inability to respond effectively after falling behind remains a critical issue for Clement and his players.

The match highlighted Rangers' ongoing challenges this season as they continue to falter away from home and struggle to close the gap with Celtic at the top of the table.
