East Bengal FC, last year's finalists, are set to kick off their 133rd IndianOil Durand Cup 2024 campaign against the Indian Air Force Football Team tomorrow. The Group A match will take place at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and is scheduled to start at 7 PM IST.

East Bengal aims to make a strong start with their newly strengthened squad. All 43 matches of the tournament will be broadcast live on the Sony Sports Network (Sony Ten2 HD) and available for streaming on the SonyLiv OTT platform.

East Bengal has made significant signings this season, including last season's Golden Boot winner Dimitrios Diamantakos, top assist provider Madih Talal, Durand Cup Golden Boot winner David Lalhlansanga, and Indian international Jeakson Singh. They have also retained key players like Cleiton Silva, Hijazi Maher, Saul Crespo, Naorem Mahesh Singh, and Nandhakumar Sekar. Under the guidance of Spanish coach Carles Cuadrat, the team is looking to improve on their runner-up finish from last year.

Coach Carles Cuadrat mentioned that the team has been training intensively and consistently for the upcoming Durand Cup, with many players having been together for the past 25 days. He expressed confidence in their ability to be competitive and show resilience, aiming to reach the final again this year.

The Indian Air Force Football Team is aiming for a better performance than last year when they finished fourth in Group C with a single draw against ISL side Bengaluru FC. Known for their strong defense and endurance, the team includes experienced players like Shibinraj Kunniyil, Arashpreet Singh, and Vivek Kumar, who have the potential to challenge any opponent.
