Dyche Expresses Confidence In Moyes' Ability To Propel Everton Forward In Second Tenure

Sean Dyche believes David Moyes will successfully lead Everton forward during his second spell. Despite recent struggles, Dyche praises the club's stability and expresses pride in his tenure.

Sean Dyche has expressed confidence in David Moyes' ability to advance Everton as the new manager prepares for his first match back at Goodison Park. Moyes returned to the club last Saturday, marking his second tenure with the Toffees after Dyche was dismissed due to unsatisfactory Premier League results.

Dyche managed Everton from January 2023, successfully avoiding relegation in both seasons despite an eight-point penalty in the 2023-24 season. However, this season, Everton is positioned 16th in the Premier League, just one point above relegation. Their lacklustre performances led to Dyche's departure.

Dyche Backs Moyes for Everton Success

This season, Everton has failed to score in 11 different top-flight matches, a league-high figure. This is just one game fewer than their total of goalless games last season, which was 12. They have netted only 15 goals in the Premier League this campaign, surpassing only Southampton's tally of 12 and scoring at least five fewer than any other team.

Moyes will be back on the sidelines at Goodison Park on Wednesday as Everton faces Aston Villa. He has a favourable record against Villa, having secured 13 victories in 34 top-flight encounters. Despite this, Everton hasn't won any of their last 11 Premier League games against Villa (D3 L8), contrasting with their previous success of six wins out of eight (D1 L1).

Dyche remains optimistic about Everton's future under Moyes' leadership. In a statement via the League Managers Association, Dyche remarked: "David is a manager who I have great respect for. I believe he and his staff will help to push the club forward again and build on the stable footing we have implemented in the past two years."

He further expressed that it was an honour to manage Everton for two years and felt it was time to step aside with the team well-positioned. "The right time has come to leave the club, with the team in good shape," Dyche stated. "My part as a custodian has been played, and I will forever take great pride in that."
