Oleksandr Pikhalyonok and Nazar Voloshyn's late strikes propelled Dynamo Kyiv to a 2-0 victory over Rangers, securing their spot in the Champions League play-offs with a 3-1 aggregate score. Rangers, reduced to 10 men early in the second half, will now compete in the Europa League after conceding twice in the final 10 minutes.
The first half saw few clear chances, with Ross McCausland missing an opportunity to put Rangers ahead. The game changed dramatically around halftime when Jefte received his first booking for a late challenge on Andriy Yarmolenko. Five minutes into the second half, Jefte was controversially sent off following an aerial duel with Oleksandr Karavaev.

Despite being a man down, Rangers managed to hold off Dynamo Kyiv until much later in the match. Vaclav Cerny tried to ignite some momentum for Rangers but couldn't capitalise on any opportunities. Pikhalyonok then broke the deadlock by cutting inside from the right and firing a low shot into the bottom-right corner.
Just two minutes after Pikhalyonok's goal, Voloshyn kept the ball in play brilliantly before finishing off a one-two with Mykola Shaparenko. His first-time shot past Jack Butland sealed Dynamo's win and ended Rangers' hopes of advancing further in the Champions League.
Rangers had previously kept their hopes alive with Cyriel Dessers' last-minute equaliser a week ago. However, this time they succumbed to late goals from Dynamo Kyiv, highlighting their lapse in concentration towards the end of the match.
Dynamo Kyiv did not exert significant pressure on Rangers until much later in the game despite playing against 10 men for 40 minutes. The substitutions made by Dynamo's coach Shovkovskyi played a crucial role in turning the tide in their favour during those critical final moments.
The match concluded with Dynamo Kyiv advancing to the Champions League play-offs while Rangers will have to focus on their Europa League campaign. The late goals by Pikhalyonok and Voloshyn were decisive, showcasing Dynamo's resilience and ability to capitalise on key moments.
