East Bengal showcased a fantastic performance in Bhutan, which has seen them qualify for the AFC Challenge League knockouts.
The third tier of the AFC competition is in its inaugural season. East Bengal were slotted in Group A along with Paro FC, Bashundhara Kings and Nejmeh SC. All the group stage matches were played in Bhutan's capital Thimphu.

East Bengal drew 2-2 in their first match against Paro, but then came back stunningly to secure a 4-0 victory over Bangladeshi club Bashundhara Kings. In their final match, the Kolkata club needed a win to qualify for the quarterfinals, and they did so. Oscar Bruzon's men secured a stellar 3-2 win over Lebanese club Nejmeh to become the first team to advance to the knockouts of the tournament.
After qualifying for the knockouts as Group A winners, East Bengal have now learned their opponents in the knockouts.
East Bengal are going to face Turkmenistan club FK Arkadag in the quarter-finals. Arkadag were the Group B winners and now the two teams will lock horns in a two-legged quarterfinal match.
East Bengal's quarterfinal encounter against Arkadag will be a two-legged affair. The first leg of the tie will be played on March 5 and the second leg will be played on March 12.
1st Leg: East Bengal vs Arkadag - March 5 (Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata)
2nd Leg: Arkadag vs East Bengal - March 12 (Arkadag Stadium, Turkmenistan)
