East Bengal were handed a terrible 4-2 defeat by Punjab FC in their last match of the season. Talking to the broadcasters following the match, Carles Cuadrat was asked about his plans for the next season and when he would start preparations.
“Yeah, when we know the calendar, we will hopefully but again, you're right. It's a different plan, it's for next competitions, we'll have to get new players for a bigger squad. So we're working on that as we have hopes for the next season,” The incumbent East Bengal coach said on JioCinema.

They ended their 12 year-long trophy drought at the start of this year when they won the Super Cup. However, since then, their form had dropped as the Indian Super League resumed in February. As a result, they now don't have anything to show for this ISL season.
Fans have been extremely unhappy with the results for some time now. Many Torch Bearers fans have especially been unhappy with the coach. Cuadrat gave several reasons throughout the season for their defeats. Many of them were true but fans still expected more from him.
As a result, there have been several rumours about his future at the club. Even though he helped them win East Bengal their first trophy after so long, his stay at the club is still doubtful. However, even so, the coach's words seem to imply that he's planning on staying.
His interview after the Punjab match surely imply that he's already planning for the next season including plans on summer transfers. He previously also talked about his signing new players for the season which implies the same.
