East Bengal coach Oscar Bruzon extends contract with Club, set to stay till 2026

By MyKhel Staff

Emami East Bengal FC has officially confirmed a contract extension for Head Coach Oscar Bruzon, who will now remain at the helm of the Red & Gold Brigade until the end of the 2025-26 season. The announcement marks a significant step in the club's long-term vision of rebuilding a competitive legacy in Indian football.

Appointed midway through a turbulent 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) campaign, Bruzon oversaw a remarkable turnaround. East Bengal, languishing in the lower half of the table early on, rallied under the Spaniard's stewardship to finish with 28 points, the club's highest tally in a single ISL season to date.

Beyond domestic improvement, East Bengal also made a promising continental debut by topping Group A in the inaugural AFC Challenge League, eventually bowing out in the quarterfinals.

Expressing complete faith in Bruzon's leadership, Emami Group's representative and club executive, Mr. Vibhash Vardhan Agarwal, said:
"Coach Oscar has brought a renewed sense of purpose to the team. His dedication to our vision of challenging for titles and ability to inspire both players and fans make him the ideal leader for our club's future."

Bruzon, whose prior coaching credentials include successful stints in the Maldives and Bangladesh, has been credited for instilling discipline and tactical clarity in a side that had long struggled with consistency and identity in the ISL.

Reacting to his extension, the 46-year-old tactician remarked:
"I am thrilled to extend my journey with Emami East Bengal FC for the upcoming season. While the previous season presented challenges, particularly after a slow start, we have collectively learned from those experiences and are now fully focused on reigniting the winning mentality that defines this great club. Our loyal supporters deserve nothing less than a team that reflects their passion, resilience and unwavering belief in East Bengal's legacy."

The club's decision to continue with Bruzon reflects a rare moment of coaching stability in recent East Bengal history, which has seen a revolving door of managers over the past decade. With the ISL expanding its continental profile and the AFC Challenge League emerging as a key platform for South Asian clubs, East Bengal's leadership believes Bruzon is well-suited to guide the club through this transformative phase.
