East Bengal concede a point to Raiway FC in Sahara football

Kolkata, Jul 24 (UNI) East Bengal's lean patch continued unabated in the Sahara Premier Division Football League, drawing 1-1 with lower rung Railway Football Club at Yuba Bharati Krirangan today.

East Bengal surged ahead on the 16th minute when Parveen Kumar nodded home, giving a new hope to the Kolkata soccer giant.

East Bengal in their last game lost to Mohammedan Sporting 1-3 and drew 1-1 against George Telegraph.

Striker Parveen Kumar latching on to a free kick from Alvito d Cunha at goalmouth headed home, defeating RFC goalkeeper Rakesh Prasad (1-0).

The equaliser for RCF came 13 minutes later when captain Suraj Mondol held a pass from Sunar Mandi and dodged past two EB defenders to slot home (1-1).

EB coach Monoranjan Bhattacharjee facing criticism for failure one after another brought Brazilian Edmilson, who arrived here only yesterday from long vacation, as upfront proved unproductive after break.

With this draw, EB were now with five points from four games.

The RFC, at the bottom in the eight-team premier league, got their first point in as many outings.
