East Bengal derail railway men with a brace
Kolkata, Aug 3 (UNI) East Bengal continued their winning streak in the Kolkata Premier League with a 2-0 win over Eastern Railways here today.
Edmilson found the opener in the 24th minute of the second half scoring from the penalty, after he was brought down inside the box.
The Brazilian slotted home to give the red golds a 1-0 lead.
The second goal came in 40th minute when Dippendu Biswas found the mark with a fine solo.
The game was disrupted for six minutes in the second half and the spectators resorted unruly behavaviour after Abhra Mandal of East Bengal and Benjamin of Eastern Railways were shown red cards for engaging in a fisticuff.
The game never rose to any great heights and was limited to a midfield battle for the major part of first half. It was only after the change of sides that East Bengal showed some purpose.
Eastern Railway's ploy of overcrowding thje defence worked fine in the first half till Edmilson scored. The goal conceded, the visitors fell apart.
